Abstract


Objective: To make available epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic data on hand trauma at Matanda Hospital in Butembo. Methodology: It was a descriptive retrospective study that was carried out from 1st January 2013 to 31 December 2017. Results: Hand traumas were mostly seen among males with 87% of the cases. The most affected age group was from 20 to 29 years with 35.2% of cases. The most concerned socio professional layer was military with 27.8% and road traffic accidents were the first cause of the trauma with 33.3% of cases. Wounds were the most common lesions with 37.1% of cases. According to the injured side, the right hand was the most affected with 51.9% of cases and surgical treatment was the most used with 46,3% of cases. Conclusion: Hand trauma is a major public health problem because of its severity and the socio-professional consequences it engenders. An improvement in its care is essential to minimize the sequelae.

Objectif : L’objectif de ce travail était de rendre disponibles les données épidémiologiques, cliniques et thérapeutiques sur les traumatismes de la main à l’hôpital Matanda de Butembo. Matériel et Méthodes : il s’agissait d’une étude rétrospective descriptive du 1er janvier 2013 au 31 Décembre 2017. Résultats : Le sexe masculin a été le plus concerné par les traumatismes des mains avec 87% des cas. La tranche d’âge allant de 20 à 29 ans a été la plus concernée avec 35,2% des cas. La couche socioprofessionnelle la plus affectée a été celle des militaires avec 27,8 % et les accidents du trafic routier ont été la première cause de ces traumatismes avec 33,3% des cas. Les plaies ont été les lésions les plus fréquentes avec 37,1% des cas. Selon le côté lésé, la main droite a été la plus touchée avec 51,9% des cas et le traitement chirurgical a été le plus utilisé avec 46,3% des cas. Conclusion : Les traumatismes des mains constituent un problème majeur de santé publique à Butembo. Les accidents du trafic routier en sont la première cause et la plaie en est la lésion la plus fréquente siégeant du côté de la main dominante. Le traitement chirurgical est le socle de la prise en charge. En perspective, nous devrions évaluer la connaissance et le respect du code de la route par les usagers de Butembo.
