A survey on the inventory of woody flora on the west coast of Lake Kivu has been done precisely in Katana region. Transect and quadrat methods have been used in the sites and many species inventoried of the vegetation have been recognized relics as: Brideliia bridelifolia, Vernonia amygdalina,Ficus lutea, Albizia grandibracteata, Tabernaemontana jonhstoni, Urera sp, Markhamia lutea, Erythrina abyssinica, Ficus vallis-choudae, Maessa lanceolata showing that there was primary forest in the region but was destroyed by anthropogenic activities.

Abstract

Une étude d'inventaire sur la flore ligneuse de la côte occidentale du lac Kivu a été effectuée plus précisément dans la région de katana. Les méthodes de transect et de quadrat ont été utilisées dans les sites et plusieurs espèces inventoriées de la végétation ont été reconnues reliques comme : Bridelia bridelifolia, Vernonia amygdalina, Bridelia micranta, Ficus exasperata, Ficus thonningii,Ficus lutea, Albizia grandibracteata, Tabernaemontana jonhstoni,Urera sp, Markhamia lutea, Erythrina abyssinica, Ficus vallis choudae, Maessa lanceolata, témoignant qu'il existerait la foret primaire dans la région mais détruite par les activités anthropogéniques.
