The objective of this study was to assess the entrepreneurial motivations of entrepreneurs in the city of Kinshasa. To this end, a motivational scale was administered to a sample of 380 entrepreneurs in four communes of the city of Kinshasa. The results obtained revealed that psychological needs, the desire to contribute to the resolution of community problems, know-how and expected profitability are factors that motivated the subjects of the study to go into business. Expected profitability was the most important factor that motivated the study subjects to start their small and medium-sized businesses.

Abstract
The objective of this study was to assess the entrepreneurial motivations of entrepreneurs in the city of Kinshasa. Cette étude avait pour objectif d’évaluer les motivations entrepreneuriales des entrepreneurs de la Ville de Kinshasa. A cet effet, une échelle des motivations a été administrée à un échantillon de 380 entrepreneurs de quatre communes de la Ville de Kinshasa. Les résultats obtenus ont révélé que les besoins psychologiques, le souci de contribuer à la résolution des problèmes de communauté, le savoir-faire et la rentabilité espérée sont des facteurs qui ont poussé les sujets de l’étude à se lancer dans les affaires. La rentabilité espérée est le facteur qui a le plus motivé les sujets de l’étude dans la création de leurs petites et moyennes entreprises.
