This study uses the Granger cointegration and causality test procedure developed as part of an ARDL (Autoregressive Distributed Lag) model to determine the effect of public sports spending on economic growth in Côte d'Ivoire. The results indicate that in the short term, consumer sports spending has a positive effect on economic growth, which is consistent with the Granger Causality Test estimates that reveal, two-way causality between operating sports expenditures and economic growth.

Abstract

Cette étude utilise la procédure des tests de cointégration et de causalité de Granger développée dans le cadre d’un modèle ARDL (Autoregressive Distributed Lag) pour déterminer l’effet des dépenses publiques sportives sur la croissance économique en Côte d’Ivoire. Les résultats indiquent que sur le court terme, les dépenses sportives de consommation ont un effet positif sur la croissance économique, ce qui est cohérent avec les estimations du test de causalité de Granger qui révèlent, une causalité bidirectionnelle entre les dépenses sportives de fonctionnement et la croissance économique.
