[ Etude sur la consommation de l’ail (Allium Sativum) dans les ménages de la commune Mususa en ville Butembo, RD Congo ]

The study of the garlic consumption in Mususa commune of Butembo from March to October 2021, is the issue of this work, to ensure the rate and frequency of this crop consumption. The inquiries in different households show that the garlic is consumed by so many persons in Mususa Commune. Thus, 83% of persons consume it in fresh state, 9% in powder form and 8% in oil form. About the frequency, 39% of inquired persons consume the garlic six times per week, 26% seven times per week, 17% four times per week; those who consume it once and five times per week are represented in value which is inferior to 10%. In terms of consumption, 61% of inquired persons speak of medical aspects and 39% consume it as condiment. According to the garlic supply chain, the great number of consumers get it from: market, store, garden, and other receive it as a present from their friends or relatives. In details, a piece of garlic is bought at 100 Fc and 200 Fc (two hundred Congoles francs). One kilogramme costs 5000 Fc and 6000 Fc, about the price of a garlic heap, it varies from 500 Fc to 1200 Fc. The great part of our inquired persons have declared that they consume a quantity which varies between OO,5 and 2 Kg a month. However, the fluctuations are noticed in a year. A part from the garlic, a great deal of Mususa commune inhabitants consume the leeks and the onions. For the consumption frequency of other condiments, the inquired persons eat them four times and seven times a week a week. About the supply chain: Masereka, Kipese, Magheria, Luotu and some markets of Butembo city are cited. However, the consumers complain about the garlic scarcity and ignorance of people towards its virtues.

L’étude de la consommation de l’ail dans la Commune de Mususa en ville de Butembo, de mars à octobre 2021 dans le but de se rassurer du taux et fréquence de consommation de cette plante. Les enquêtes dans les ménages montrent que l’Ail est consommé par tout le monde en commune Mususa. Cependant, 83% le consomment à l’état frais, 9% sous forme de poudre et 8% sous forme d’huile. Quant à la fréquence, 39% d’enquêtés consomment l’ail 6 fois la semaine; le 26%, 7 fois la semaine; le 17%, 4 fois la semaine; ceux qui en consomment une fois et 5 fois la semaine en sont représentés en valeurs inférieures à 10%. De la raison de consommation, 61% d’enquêtés parlent d’aspects médicamenteux et 39% en consomment comme condiment. Quant à l’approvisionnement, la grande partie de consommateurs d’ail marche à tas, par pièces ou par kilo, d’autres le tirent du champ et d’autres encore reçoivent comme don de leurs membres de famille. De l’autre côté, la pièce est achetée à un prix variant entre 100 et 200Fc, le Kilogramme entre 5000Fc et 6000Fc, quant au prix par tas, il varie de 500Fc à 1200Fc. La majeure partie de nos enquêtés ont déclaré qu’ils consomment une quantité variant entre 0,5 et 2kg le mois; toutefois, des fluctuations se font remarquer toute l’année. A part l’ail, bon nombre d’habitants de la Commune Mususa consomment tous uniquement du poireau et l’oignon. Pour la fréquence de consommation de ces autres condiment, les enquêtés en mangent 4 à 7 fois la semaine; quant à l’approvisionnement, Masereka, Kipese, Magheria, Luotu et les marchés de Butembo sont les lieux cités. Cependant ces consommateurs accusent la rareté de l’ail, ainsi que l’ignorance des gens face à ses vertus.
