Through its involvement in a quality approach, the medical biology laboratory (MBL) seeks above all to satisfy the needs of its customers. The question is whether the production processes and improvements undertaken by the biologist are converging towards optimum performance. In order to do this, an effective evaluation process must be set up to assess the extent to which the MBL is meeting the requirements and objectives it has set itself. The aim of this paper is to identify the performance indicators of an MBL’S operational process and to develop a dashboard for evaluating its performance. For this study, we surveyed the literature to identify the various indicators used to measure business process performance. Once the indicators had been selected, we proceeded to contextualize and validate them by organizing a focus group. This focus group enabled us to add certain indicators and eliminate others, and to design a dashboard that offers a global and synthetic vision, and represents a turnkey solution for biologists to monitor laboratory activity in a quest for effectiveness and efficiency.

A travers son implication dans une démarche qualité, le laboratoire de biologie médicale (LBM) cherche principalement à satisfaire les besoins de ses clients. La question est de savoir si les processus de production et les améliorations entreprises par le biologiste convergent vers une performance optimale. Pour ce faire, le LBM doit mettre en œuvre un processus d’évaluation efficace permettant de constater dans quelle mesure le LBM répond aux exigences et aux objectifs qu’il s’est proposé d’atteindre. L’objectif de ce papier est d’identifier les indicateurs de performance du processus métier d’un LBM et d’élaborer un tableau de bord permettant une évaluation de sa performance. Pour cette étude, nous avons fait un recensement des différents indicateurs de mesure de la performance du processus métier à partir de la littérature. Une fois les indicateurs sont sélectionnés, nous avons procédé à l’étape de leur contextualisation et validation en organisant un focus groupe. Ce focus groupe nous a permis d’ajouter certains indicateurs et d’éliminer d’autres et de concevoir un tableau de bord qui offre une vision globale et synthétique, et qui représente une clé en main pour les biologistes afin de contrôler l’activité du laboratoire dans une démarche de recherche d’efficacité et d’efficience.
