This article aims to analyze the representation of work in Moroccan cinema, particularly that of the director Hakim Belabbes. While the Moroccan filmmaker is known for his strong commitment to capturing the various sociocultural and psychological aspects of his hometown, Béjaâd, and particularly for showcasing the misery and simplicity of its inhabitants, the article seeks to examine the extent to which work is also represented as suffering and pain within the framework of a «Cinema of the Poor.». The study focuses on the thematic analysis of certain films by Belabbes; a diverse corpus in terms of film genres, including documentaries, short films, and feature films, as well as the nature of the corpus, which encompasses text, sound, and image.

Cet article vise à analyser la représentation du travail dans le cinéma marocain et notamment celui du réalisateur Hakim Belabbes. Si le cinéaste marocain est connu par son fort engagement à filmer les différentes composantes socioculturelles et psychologiques de sa ville natale de Béjaâd, et à montrer surtout la misère et la simplicité de ses habitants, l’article a donc pour but de vérifier à quel point le travail serait également représenté comme peines et douleurs dans le cadre d’un « Cinéma du pauvre ». L’étude porte sur l’analyse thématique de certains films de Belabbes; un corpus varié en genres filmiques entre documentaires, courts-métrages et longs-métrages, et également en nature du corpus entre texte, son et image.
