AB  - The world may be on the brink of an influenza pandemic. Avian influenza A (subtype H5N1) is causing widespread outbreaks among poultry in Southeast (SE) Asia and Egypt, with sporadic transmission from birds to humans and limited probable human-to-human transmission. In this study, we discussed the most prominent risk factors regarding birds associated with the expected pandemic influenza in Egypt. The final multivariate logistic regression model showed, a significant association between Education level of bird keepers (P<0.05), Poverty (P<0.05) and Presence of community based animal health outreach teams (P<0.05) and the expected pandemic influenza (H5N1) in human in Egypt.  According to our knowledge, this is the first paper to discuss the risk factors regarding birds associated with the expected pandemic influenza in Egypt.
