A behavior change initiative with respect to contraceptive and family planning methods flourished in a religious context of the Church of the Assemblies of God in the Municipality of Abomey-Calavi in the Republic of Benin. What mechanisms can explain such efficiency in this religious context which is initially very reluctant or even hostile to such action ? The objective of this research is to analyze the influence of the communication strategy used which facilitated the adoption by Calavi DA devotees of modern methods of contraception. Through a mixed approach, 142 units were taken, targeted by reasoned choice sampling techniques and whose data were collected by sampling, interview and participant observation techniques.It can be noted that the influence of the communication strategy used by the DAs for the adoption by Calavi devotees of modern family planning methods was facilitated by two factors. It is about the choice of the appropriate messages and channels having reversed the determinants of failing behaviors internal to the Church of the DA and the social relations of influence established within the Church facilitated by the internal organization within the Church. It is therefore the communicational flow of multilevel influence was developed from social relations within the Church of the Assemblies of God in the Municipality of Abomey-Calavi with as main actor religious leaders at various levels in a double vertical and horizontal perspective.

Une initiative de changement de comportement par rapport aux méthodes contraceptives et de planification familiale a prospéré dans un contexte religieux de l’Eglise des Assemblées de Dieu dans la Commune d’Abomey-Calavi en République du Bénin. Quels mécanismes peuvent expliquer une telle efficacité dans ce contexte religieux au départ très réticente voire hostile à une action du genre ? L’objectif de cette recherche est d’analyser l’influence de la stratégie de communication utilisée ayant facilité l’adoption par les fidèles des AD de Calavi des méthodes modernes de contraception. A travers une approche mixte, 142 unités ont été pris ciblés par le biais des techniques d’échantillonnage à choix raisonné et dont les données ont été collectées par les techniques d’échantillonnage, d’entretien et d’observation participante.On peut retenir que l’influence de la stratégie de communication utilisée par les AD pour l’adoption par les fidèles de Calavi des méthodes modernes de planification familiale a été facilitée par deux facteurs. Il s’agit du choix des messages et canaux appropriés ayant renversé les déterminants de comportements défaillants internes à l’Eglise des AD et les relations sociales d’influence établies au sein de l’Eglise facilitées par l’organisation interne au sein de l’Eglise. C’est donc le flux communicationnel d’influence multiniveaux a été développé à partir des rapports sociaux au sein de l’Eglise des Assemblées de Dieu dans la Commune d’Abomey-Calavi avec comme acteur principal les leaders religieux à divers niveaux dans une double perspective verticale et horizontale.
