The aim of this study was to describe the operation of private health facilities in Bunia town, in the Province of Ituri, Democratic Republic of Congo. The survey method, supported by semi-structured interviews and documentary analysis, was used to carry out this work. The data were analyzed using the percentage. After analyzing the data, the study revealed what follows: - More than 4/5 of private health facilities have authorization to open the facilities; - The majority of health facilities have 1 to 3 buildings; - A weight scale, blood pressure monitor, microscope and consultation table are the basic materials and equipment needed to start up a private health facility; - Nearly half of private health facilities receive 1 to 3 capacity-building sessions each year. In view of these results, it is important that the health authorities put in place appropriate strategies not only to supervise the opening of private health facilities, but also to ensure that they operate in accordance with standards.

Cette étude a été réalisée dans le but de décrire le fonctionnement des formations sanitaires privées de la Ville de Bunia, en Province de l’Ituri, République Démocratique du Congo. La méthode d’enquête, appuyée par l’interview semi-structurée et l’analyse documentaire a été utilisée pour réaliser ce travail. Les données ont été analysées au moyen de l’indice de pourcentage. Après l’analyse des données, nous avons abouti aux résultats ci-après: - Plus de 4/5 des formations sanitaires privées disposent de l’autorisation d’ouverture d’établissement sanitaire; - La majorité de formations sanitaires disposent de 1 à 3 bâtiments; - La pèse-personne, le tensiomètre, le microscope et la table de consultation sont les matériels et équipements de base pour commencer une structure sanitaires privées; - Près de la moitié de formations sanitaires privées bénéficient de 1 à 3 fois de séances de supervision chaque année. Au vu de ces résultats il s’avère important que les autorités sanitaires mettent sur pieds des stratégies appropriées non seulement pour encadrer l’ouverture d’une formation sanitaire privée, mais également se rassurer que leur fonctionnement est conforme aux normes.
