Abstract

Taking into account, the diversity and seriousness of diseases induced by oxidative stress, several scholars in made research in new antioxidant in order to fight against oxidative stress and associated pathologies. This study aims to evaluating the antioxidant activity of essential oil of Uvaria chamae and Monanthotaxis capea two medicinal plants from the Côte d’Ivoire. These oils were then analysed by GC-SM and nuclear magnetic resonance. The antioxidant activity of these oils was evaluated by the DPPH and ABTS tests. The essential oils of U. chamae contain β-caryophyllene (35.88 %), and germacrene D (10.67 %) while leaves of Monanthotaxis capea are mainly made of Precocene I (30.12 %), menthyl acetate (17.01 %), and Sesquisabinene A (12.14 %). The results show that the oils of Uvaria chamae and ABTS have good antioxidant activity compared to the oil from Monanthotaxis capea.
