To assess the influence of Jatropha curcas cultivation on maize yield in a cropping association, a study was conducted on the application farm of the Ecole Régionale d'Agriculture du Sud in Bingerville from 2015 to 2016. The study aimed to determine the appropriate Jatropha planting density to improve maize yield in a cropping association. The experiment consisted in setting up a randomized complete block design with three replications, including three treatments T1 (2*2m); T2 (3*2m) and T3 (4*2m) based on the spacing of Jatropha curcas plants compared to a control T0 (control without jatropha). Morphological and yield parameters of Jatropha curcas and maize were assessed respectively. The results obtained show that the Jatropha-maize association had no significant effect (P > 0.05) on the agro-morphological parameters (growth, development and yield) of Jatropha curcas regardless of the treatment. On the other hand, a significant effect (P < 0.05) of the Jatropha-maize association was observed on plant biomass and maize yield, particularly with treatment T2. In conclusion, this experiment demonstrates that it is possible to harmoniously integrate regular row spacing (intercropping) in Jatropha curcas plantations during the juvenile period of the trees provided that the main crop (Jatropha curcas) is at a spacing of 3*2 m.

Pour apprécier l’influence de la culture de Jatropha curcas sur le rendement du maïs en association culturale, une étude a été réalisée sur la ferme d’application de l’Ecole Régionale d’Agriculture du Sud de Bingerville de 2015 à 2016. L’étude visait à déterminer la densité de plantation de Jatropha adéquate pour améliorer le rendement du maïs dans une association culturale. L’expérimentation a consisté à mettre en place un dispositif en blocs complets randomisés de trois répétitions, comportant trois traitements T1 (2*2 m); T2 (3*2m) et T3 (4*2 m) basés sur les écartements des pieds de Jatropha curcas comparés à un témoin T0 (témoin sans jatropha). Les paramètres morphologiques et de rendement du Jatropha curcas et du maïs ont été respectivement évalués. Les résultats obtenus révèlent que l’association Jatropha-Maïs n’a eu aucun effet significatif (P > 0,05) sur les paramètres agro morphologiques (croissance, développement et rendement) du Jatropha curcas quel que soit le traitement. En revanche, un effet significatif (P < 0,05) de l’association Jatropha-Maïs a été observé sur la biomasse végétale et le rendement du maïs notamment avec le traitement T2. En conclusion, cette expérience démontre qu’il est possible d’intégrer harmonieusement des interlignes régulières (cultures intercalaires) dans les plantations de Jatropha curcas pendant la période juvénile des arbres à condition que la culture principale (Jatropha curcas) soit à un écartement de 3*2 m.
