The study investigated into the effect of pictorial reading strategy on the learning of proverbs and riddles with view to elucidating the need to uphold making children to be well- grounded in their first language. The study adopted quasi- experimental pre-test-post-test design. Three intact classes of Primary Six pupils were assigned to two experimental and one control groups.
